Visitors Counter: Hull Stress Control

Hull Stress Control

Prevention of cargo damage is the main target for vessel owners and charters. At the same time vessel owners and charters have a target to operate their vessels as economically as possible. A significant percentage of cargo damage is due to:

Vessel motions which exceed the maximum allowable limits
Cargo lashing failures

MaxControl has developed special software called SafetyMax and sensor for monitoring g-forces on the cargo. The system is very easy to install on the ship.

After installation you will be able to:

Record g-forces in 3-directions on your cargo over long period of time
Analyze extreme values of g-forces
Decide how many lashings to use with certain weather conditions (probably no lashings at all).
Monitor g-forces during the voyage.
Set alarm values for g-forces (audible and visual). When g-forces exceed safe limits due to unexpected weather, captain can take an action to prevent damage to the cargo or ship.

Additional features of SafetyMax software include:

Hull Stress measurements
Real-time GM estimation based on motion analyzes.

Real-time information with indicative alarms will warn officer at the wheelhouse to take preventive action prior to ship or cargo damage. SafetyMax is a perfect tool for mariners to keep better control over the vessel.  SafetyMax can be also used in order to gain more experience about vessels behavior and lashing.

As an example statistic report can be done for g-force vs. weather condition. This report can be used to reduce cost of cargo securing while still maintaining safe transportation:

The system is already successfully used on container and Ro-Ro vessels.

SafetyMax software and measuring device is available for the rent or purchase. For more information contact us via e-mail or telephone.
